ID receives a warm chill

June 2009

The newest indoor ski slope opened its doors to the public in April and ID Technology Group was at hand to ensure the venue opened its doors without a hitch.

The Snow Centre, based at Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire is the UK’s premier indoor snow sports destination, including a 160m indoor slope, tobogganing run and the largest learning slope in the UK.

ID Technology Group installed the security system, including CCTV and Intruder & Fire alarms as well as a full public announcement and music system to the venue.

Due to the success of the installation, ID Technology Group are hoping to play a key part in the next indoor ski slope venture, which is set to be the UK’s largest and incorporates chalets and a hotel later in 2009.

UK's 'Greenest' Supermarket

March 2009

Sainsbury's has opened its flagship green store in Dartmouth, Devon, built with consideration for the use of energy, water, waste, timber and land.

As part of Sainsbury’s responsibility plan, the store has become one of the first supermarkets to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent' rating for its commitment to sustainable construction, and has been specifically designed to reduce the amount of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere.

As part of its ongoing partnership with Sainsbury's store development, ID Technology Group and ID Intact installed and commissioned complete CCTV and Intruder Alarm system that included almost 50 cameras into the store with Vista Columbus DVR's powering the system.

The pioneering store will save 40% of its overall CO2 emissions. This will be achieved by using cutting edge technology such as a ‘biomass boiler' which will heat the building and water, and uses locally sourced wood which would otherwise be wasted. Using no gas whatsoever at the store, this system uses renewable energy and means energy currently taken from the national grid will now be slashed by 50%.

Rainwater will be collected, and used to flush customer and colleague toilets, and to irrigate plants. The store will save over one million litres of mains water every year, and uses 60% less water overall.

Due to the high priority of the investment into the Dartmouth store, ID had to ensure that the system was delivered on time and to the high standards expected from Sainsbury's.

ID handed over the security system in late 2008, scoring 10 out of 10 on Sainsbury’s supplier grading system that it uses to rate the workmanship of each install into its stores.
