ID helps protect flagship store

February 2009

TK Maxx’s opened its largest UK store to date in Autumn 2008. The two floor, 48,000 sq ft store is based in the heart of Leeds City Centre on The Headrow, featuring the latest clothing and home items, with an additional ‘SportsMaxx’ area that holds specialist sporting equipment and clothing.

To protect a store that receives some of TK Maxx’s highest footfall rates in the UK, a 48 camera integrated digital CCTV system including 21 360۫ degree Pan Tilt and Zoom camera was installed to keep a watchful eye over store activities.

The system was designed and installed by ID Technology Group, which includes two suspect buttons over the high value jewellery counter and customer services desk, which instantly alerts security staff and management if a member of staff feels threatened or they suspect a criminal activity is taking place.

Working with ID Technology Group, TK Maxx has implemented a separate ‘Shoe Zone’ CCTV monitoring system that they have found to a very effective deterrent to potential shoe theft.

It was identified that the shoe department in particular within TK Maxx could be targeted a it has a high value quantity of stock. As a result TK Maxx decided to implement a targeted strategy on the shoe zones and looked to ID Technology for a solution that would deter potential store theft.

The system comprises of 7 monitors spread over both the men and women’s shoe departments. Additional cameras give almost 100% coverage of the shoe area and is supported by a 1.5 terabyte Cathexis DVR separate to the main CCTV system. The monitors continually switch between all of the cameras, highlighting to customers and potential criminals that they are being monitored by CCTV in every area of the shoe zone.

Matt Allen, National Account Director at ID Technology Group commented – “This store was of the utmost importance to TK Maxx and we had to deliver a system that dealt with any type of potential theft or anti-social behaviour. The result was a scalable system that can be separately monitored and gives customers the feel of a safer store environment.”

Matt Continued, “Potential criminals are far more aware that they are being monitored, and everywhere they turn in the shoe department they can see themselves on screen. It has proved a very successful deterrent and further proves the benefits to retailers of CCTV”.

ID designs and installs security system into Casino Red’s first UK Casino

October 2008

Huddersfield was centre of the gaming industry last month as Casino Red opened its doors to the town in fantastic fashion. Located in the listed Princess Cinema building on Northumberland Street in Huddersfield, the luxury casino offers a vibrant, safe and exciting addition to Huddersfield’s town centre.

As the UK’s largest supplier of CCTV systems to the casino industry, ID Technology Group were called upon to ensure that the CCTV and security system was successfully installed to protect the venue and customers.

Casino Red Invested over £5m in the development to ensure one of Huddersfield’s most loved listed buildings is sympathetically restored to its former glory as the centerpiece of Huddersfield entertainment. The venue is spread over four floors, offering gaming, fine dining and live entertainment to visitors.

The basement houses a dedicated poker room, while the ground floor hosts the rest of the venues gaming activities, including Blackjack, Roulette and electronic machines.

The mezzanine circle hosts a 120 cover restaurant and separate circle bar both with an impressive view onto the ground floor gaming and stage area. A further third floor gallery holds a VIP section with a fantastic view over all floors.
With such a huge investment, ID installed the latest low lighting dome cameras and live quality recording equipment to ensure that every gaming activity and high profile area are monitored.

As the building is listed and used to the towns old theatre and cinema, there were many different challenges that ID normally faces when installing a system, but it was fully installed on schedule for the opening night on the 25th September.

ID Portable Monitoring Station Launches into Stores

September 2008

The ID Technology Group Portable Monitoring Station is providing retailers with a unique security system that combines the complete functionality of a full server based CCTV system, along with the physical deterrent of store detectives and guarding.

The Portable Monitoring Station allows full access to a PC based server system on the retail floor. Unlike stationary models that are fixed to a single position, the Portable Station allows complete access to any point or potential high risk area.

This solution allows security staff to spend more time on the sales floor, increasing their ability to respond to incidents whilst still being able to monitor events through the CCTV system anywhere on the retail floor. Not only are guards now able to react quickly to incidents as they unfold, they are also able to play a proactive role in patrolling vulnerable areas of the store.

Having been rolled out to Wilkinson, TK Maxx and HMV stores already, the portable station is providing retailers with many unique benefits in the fight against retail crime. With such an unrivalled and innovative product not seen anywhere else in the UK, ID are aiming to see many more of the podiums in other retailers over the next year.
